George F. Norris, 58, beloved son, husband, father, and uncle, went to his heavenly home on March 27, 2020, after succumbing to injuries suffered in a bicycle accident.
Born in Boston on June 6, 1961, son of Eleanor (Heywood) Norris and the late George F. Norris, he was raised in Ipswich and was a 1979 graduate of Ipswich High School.
He was employed for 10 years at Soffron Shellfish before going to work at D.F. Clark, Inc. as a Title V inspector.
He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and was active with Family Promise.
He generously volunteered his time with the Ipswich Dinner Bell at their weekly meals.
George was an avid sports fan, a passionate gardener, and a faithful servant to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He loved spending time with his family, watching his nephew’s concerts, attending Interscholastic basketball and baseball games, and soaking for hours in the Gulf of Mexico watching the seabirds.
George’s wonderful sense of humor was a joy to all who had the privilege to know him.
He leaves behind a heartbroken family, including his mother, Ellie; his wife Amy (High) Norris; daughter Samantha Norris; and sons George Norris III and Jack Norris.
He is also survived by brother William Norris and his wife. Julie; brother Joshua Norris and his wife, Katie; and many nieces and nephews. He joins his father, George Sr., his sister, Gina, and brothers Mark and John in heaven.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date, when social distancing is obsolete and hugs are allowed.
Arrangements will be announced by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
